What are your opinions of the German people and why did they obey Hitler?

Okay, so 80 years ago... The Treaty of Versaillles (that officially ended WWI) demoralized the German people and taxed them into near oblivion. They were easy pickings for Adolph Hitler who was a psychopathic, borderline personality that promised them relief from their economic woes. The vast majority of Germans were not truly aware of the "Final Solution" aka The Holocaust. They watched their Jewish, gay, Roma, Catholic and communist neighbors be dragged away but believed they were being taken to "re-education camps" (because this was easier to believe than that their government was killing people). They were willingly oblivious, sometimes aiding in the murder and sometimes saving people. In short the Germans were a diverse group. And I say this as a Jew.
