Can I take Tattoo Equipment on an Airplane?

I am traveling to Guatemala next month....Im sure I cant take it on my carry on, because of the needles, etc...but does anyone know of any restrictions, any paperwork or anything regarding tattoo machines/ equipment on airplanes?
