How do I deal with a rude and arrogant academic counselor?
I am a new freshman at a community college. I went to see a counselor, I asked the front desk to pick one for me, because the one I wanted wasn't there. This counselor refused to answer my questions, and acted really arrogant. The time I was there it seemed like she wanted me to get out as soon as possible. I was all nice and polite and didn't do anything to deserve this treatment. I was trying to ask her to help me make an education plan to transfer out in two or three years. This is really important. I wasn't clear of anything she said and she refused to repeat herself, when she was confusing the whole time. The other counselor was off for the day. So the rude counselor is: straight-forward (which I like), but rude, arrogant, and mean. The other one that wasn't here today is nice, caring, always willing to help, but she sugar coats a lot (which sometimes give students false hope, which is kind of bad). Which one is the better of the two? And please give me advice on how to successfully make my ed plan even with the sugarcoating/rudeness in the way? Have you guys ever experienced this with professors or other falculties?
