Should I ask her out?

OK here's the gist of the story: I like this girl. We're into pretty much the same stuff and share almost the same interests, and I can tell she really enjoys my company! But I believe she only sees me as a friend. But that's only part of the story. A good friend of mine also likes the same girl, and he's been crushing on her long before I have! He doesn't know I like her, but he told me about how he felt about her. So I'm stuck in a bit of a moral dilemma right now! If I ask her out, it's gonna hurt my friend real bad...he's ma boy...don't wanna hurt him at all! But if I lose her, it could really hurt me, and I'd definitely regret letting her go! What do you guys think?
